Crystal Peña is the Founder and a Facilitator of Healing Through Movement (https://www.facebook.com/htmatx) in Austin, Texas. Crystal sees movement as a universal language. During her 15+ yrs of psychotherapy work, postgraduate training in trauma, movement, expressive arts and somatic therapy interventions she explored and found connections between evidence based practices and ancient wisdom, which led to a re-envisioning of how she serves in the world. In reclaiming ancestors values and wisdom for use in today’s world, she developed Healing through Movement. Tools and exercises for getting back to living in energetic harmony with the earth and with respect for all living things. Mindful Strategies, the brainchild and consulting arm of her work, produces workshops and training for individuals and organizations ready to step into their higher purpose. Crystal’s trauma-centered training and workshops have been produced both locally and internationally to teach creating from a place of wellness and resilience, consciously responding, rather than from lack and reaction. A Fellow of Freedom School for Intersectional Medicine and Health Justice, Crystal is on a mission to decolonize mental health and works actively to develop and hone creative solutions to ever-increasing challenges in wellness, diversity, equity and public health.

“I see social justice as, as a rebalancing and an honoring. Um, how can we both bring back what we lost in what forms we can, and also move forward in a new way, that engages and honors intelligence, both seen and unseen.”
