Sonya E. Pritzker

Sonya E. Pritzker is the Living Justice Project Director. She is an anthropologist and practitioner of Chinese medicine as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alabama. Her research includes studies of language, emotion, and the body; intimacy, self-development, and cultural change in China; and embodied social engagement in China and the U.S. Her past research further has investigated translation in Chinese medicine as well as how both health and healthcare are mediated by interaction in multiple settings. Dr. Pritzker has also published extensively on theory and methodology in linguistic anthropology; language and emotion; subjectivity and embodiment; translation in Chinese medicine, psychology in China, and emotion communication in intimate relationships.
